City of Winona has put up some close-up shots of decaying gusset plates in action on the MN43 bridge over the Mississippi River. Closing the sidewalk is clearly justified by these images.

More MN43 Bridge Follies

Today, the MN43 bridge over the Mississippi River in Winona re-opens. As previously reported, no bicycles or pedestrians will be allowed, upon pain of… something.

There IS an update on that:

Pedestrians and bicyclists are also restricted from crossing, but a cab service will be available for 75 cents per person each way.

So, these cabs… have bicycle racks?

It’s Never Too Early: WOW2008

Planning is underway for the Twin Cities Bicycling Club’s Weekend on Wheels 2008.

The early stats are that it will take place August 1-3, in Winona, Minnesota. The club last went to Winona in 2001 and 2002, and many members have fond memories of the city near the bluffs.
